Leg wound treatment

I recently had a bypass operation and veins were taken from my leg. On leaving hospital I found my leg had reacted to the adhesive in the wound dressing and large blisters had formed on my leg. My leg was red and sore and I was concerned that an infection would get into my leg wound. i first saw a doctor in my practice who prescribed antibiotics. He told me to contact the nurse should the blisters get any worse. After several days the blisters were bigger and one had burst and leaked badly. I called first thing Monday morning and explained the situation. I immediately got an appointment to see a nurse who dealt specifically with wound care. I was very concerned but the nurse immediately assessed the situation . She explained what she wanted to do, how the blisters were progressing and most importantly put my mind at rest. A follow up appointment was arranged from which I have just returned. The wound was cleaned an checked and again I was given information on how it was progressing. They were fully aware of all the procedures I had recently been through and of any complications they could cause.. The staff looking after me were excellent and I cannot fault the care they gave me. My leg seems to be healing now and i have another follow up appointment next week to check on it.

A great practice

I literally owe my life to the caregivers at that practice. I have attended for dozens of appointments over the years and they are consistently offer excellent treatment at all levels from the reception staff, the nurse as well as the GPs themselves. I would recommend them to anyone who might move into the area.

Always give great care

We have been to the surgery on quite a few occasions, and have had house visits from the paramedic. From the receptionists, to the nurses, phlebotomy staff, and "behind the scenes" staff, we have always been treated with kindness and respect. Yes, it can be frustrating trying to get through to the surgery first thing in the morning, but if the matter is so urgent, then we have the 111 service. The doctors are stretched for time every day, so we try not to ask for an appointment unless it is absolutely necessary - sometimes a few words on the telephone can provide an answer, without seeing a doctor "face to face". Everyone at the surgery is working under huge pressure, yet when we have seen them they only have time for us...... well done - a great surgery that deserves better!
